The beta chapter of Alpha Gamma Alpha at the University of California, Irvine was established in 2003 and is dedicated to furthering the cause of the Armenian people through philanthropic work.
The official colors of the sorority are pink and silver, where pink symbolizes femininity and sensuality and silver represents balance and immortality. The emblems on our crest each have their own unique meanings. The Armenian letters and pen represent the preservation of the Armenian language and culture, while the dove and branch are a symbol of peace, gentleness, and innocence. The tree of life represents strong-rooted beliefs and the expansion of sisterhood, and the Greek goddess Aphrodite represents love, harmony, and sympathy. Mayr Hayastan (Mother Armenia), in the center, embodies the strength of Armenian women and the role they play in our culture, while the eternity symbol underneath her alludes to the perseverance of the Armenian people.
